Goodbye kenebago....hello large car! After many, MANY electrical/mechanical problems with the kenebago and much complaining on my part, the boss hooked me up with an old school peterbilt! She's a 2005 379 extended hood with a 550HP Caterpillar engine, super 10 manual transmission and a sound system that'll rattle your fillings out. This old girl is tight! I thought it had a terrible rattle at first, but after I tracked the source down I found that it was just the subwoofers rattling the arrows in my quiver. Moved my quiver and no more rattle. Some of you may think me crazy to move out of a 2013 truck into 2005, but all the emissions junk on the new stuff is a maintenance nightmare. This truck should prove to be much more reliable and therefore much more profitable. So far I am plumb tickled with the performance and handling. Thanks for looking! Josh

Pete's are good trucks. I worked for Kansas City Peterbilt / Utility trailers for 18 years before health caused me to retire.
I worked on the trailers for 35 years. Enjoy the new toy.

They say Old Trucker never die they just get a new Peter Built ;)

Glad you finally got your new old school ride. Hope that means you can get to the Classic a little faster next year.
-
Sweet rig Josh. You ever get up into the PNW?
-
Sweet Man! Looks like a gooder!!!
-
Nice looking Pete you got there number 44
-
Dude.. you can't beat old school :)
That's one mean ass motor.
Reminds me of a story that an old mate of mine told... A friend of his was chatting up a girl in a pub and invited her outside to see his new Merc'
yup.. it was a bloomin' great truck >:D, not what she was expectin'

At least it's red, and peterbago sounds like a vegetable.

Know what you mean Doc. Around here guys are taking Thier old motors and transmissions and putting together gliders. I like my 1985 Kenworth, she spent first half of her life hauling fuel at metro airport 31 years old with 94,000 mi. Rides nice yet painted her yellow about 8 years ago.
-
Congrats on the new ride. My dad drives 2000 379 with a Cat engine and an 18 speed. 1.8 million miles on the odometer and its still running strong. He'll drive it till one of them retires ;)
-
Nice ride Josh! I love those Pete's! I drove a peterbuilt super slider wrecker back in 99 for a buddy's wrecker company. What a great truck!

Good lookin' Tractor Josh ! When I retired the "new" Automatics were coming out + all the emissions crap was strangling the motors - all Junk. Treat Her well, I know You're gonna love it ! Be Safe Driver ! Bob.

Lol! That's right!
Dog-my '06 flat top came from KC Pete. She was a nice ride, but it had the 475 accert in it.
Ryan-I run border to border and coast to coast, but we don't cross em anymore.
Del- that is funny! I bet she was a might confused for a moment
Eddie-You're right peterbago just don't have a good ring to it. I haven't named her yet. I bounced a couple prospective names off the Mrs. Such as "Peter Palace", "Kansas Cat House" and a few others. For some reason she didn't seem to like any of em. >:D
Bob- you retired at a good time. It's not just the equipment being regulated to death.
Pappy- I do know what you mean. I put this girl through the paces yesterday and most of last night. Aside from having to familiarize myself with that super 10 and finding the motors sweet spot it was a fine ride. It does need the governor"adjusted". Can't have a large car governed at 65. I think the mechanics were having a little sport with me.
Josh- you're dad's a driver and you managed to avoid following in his foot steps? That gives me hope for my boy. My family has been in the transportation industry since the 1860's. You might say we were truckers before anyone invented a truck. I hope my son aims a little higher with whatever occupational field he enters.
Thanks for all the nice comments fellas. When I get her all dolled up and polished, I'll post a couple pics. If anyone can think up a good name, I'll sure consider it. Josh

How about; Red Rover, Red Rover bring Gun Doc right over.

How about; Red Rover, Red Rover bring Gun Doc right over.
Now that's a classic Pete name right there!
I was thinking about "Bandit"!?

Thanks Eddie, that is now on the list for potential names. I was right about the mechanics messing with me. The ornery scudders changed the pulse parameters on my Speedo so that it was 5 mph off. They were all snickering when I walked in this morning. They changed it back to where it was supposed to be so its all good now. My dad made a contribution to the new ride. These are fancy parking brake knobs that he got me when he found out my truck number was "44". Josh

Sweet!

How about the Red Rocket (http://rabbittalk.com/images/smilies/cheesy%20smile.gif)
-
Probably not politically correct but maybe The Wandering Redskin could put some feathers and such on her. Love the brake knobs
-
I mean no disrespect trying to tie in a native theme.
-
Little Red Wagon? That way you could say you gotta haul a load in your Little Red Wagon, and when it needs work you can tell the shop boys to fix your Little Red Wagon....
-
Caterpeter?
-
Some pretty cool suggestions! I appreciate em all. This ol girl is classy enough, that I wanted to give her a feminine name. When I requested that the unit number be "44" the boss agreed to it. He wouldn't agree to putting magnum behind the 44. After installing the new brake knobs, I kept glancing at the head stamp on the cartridges that read 44 mag. It finally clicked in my thick head. Feminine form of magnum...Maggie. Once it popped in my head, it just felt right. So Maggie it is. Thanks again for the suggestions! Josh
-
I like it Gun Doc. Maggie most be a spunky red head to
-
Hell yes! That's a good one.
-
Glad you approve fellas!
DC- I had to chuckle when I read your suggestion. I had a great great uncle that had a very strong old country accent. I remember him talking to my dad about my dad's brand new '84 peterbilt. When dad mentioned that it had a Cat under the hood, my uncle smiled and said,"dyah! Mine bulldotser has da caterpeter eenjun! Goot eenjun!" Sounded something like that anyway. I really had to concentrate on what he was saying to understand him. Good memories! Thanks for that. Josh
-
How about Cat House >:D and it's already red. ;) :) :)
Pappy

Maggie is a good name buddy! That way if you ever have any trouble out of her you could just get a divorce. You know, spelled, Smith and Wesson 44 Maggie!
Patrick
-
Not sure I typed that out right, but I hope you get how funny that was to me.

Sharp looking rig Doc, got more style than the kenabego I think.
