Title: PITHing In The Wind - 2016 (ALL POINTS DUE!)

It's about March and if it's alright with you all I'd like to roll this out slightly earlier this year so we can ideally be complete by mid-May. I'd like to be out the door in June to go hiking and with the end of the school-year and all would like to see this all wrapped up prior...anyhow.

Things went so smoothly last year, I'm happy to organize again. It was little trouble. If we are all game, then I propose the same basic rules:

1. State the # of points you are sending out.
2. I'll write a name per point on paper strips and do the hat thing.
3. My wife will draw names.
4. I'll post the sequence and you send a point to the name above yours. If a name is repeated in the draw from multiple entries, consecutively, the name will be reshuffled. First drawn sends to the last person.
5. You are responsible for sending your contact info. to the person.
6. Would like to keep this US only. If there is international interest, say so, and we'll see who all enters and make a decision from there before the draw. No promises.

I think we sent out about 60 points last year without any hitch and hope things can operate as well, again.

May the wind always be at your back gentlemen, and the sunshine upon your face. Otherwise, things could get messy. ;D

ALL points shipped by Saturday, May 14!

JEB has started this trade with a "Bang". He sent me an excellent obsidian point made to the same dimensions as an Eastern Lancelot point from the Ohio Valley area. Also included a slab of obsidian, green glass and Florida coral. The icing on the cake was a piece of Cholla Cactus, which I will mount a point for a knife. Got a beautiful point and some new challenges for me.

Jon, I am truly moved and blessed. I will do my best working the slabs.

i cooked some rocks yesterday (and some sausage):
flakes were layered in 1/2 cubic foot of damp sand; ~8 hour fire and let it cool on its own.

this is the second batch of colorado bull rock that cooked a few days ago, and the cooking seems to have worked.

i took it out in the sun and saw what you were referring to. it must be a type of rainbow obsidian, just with very subtle purples.

leOn the material on your triangle was from the same box as Trackers... now if I could remember who might have sent me that box of obsidian?? I took the return labels off the boxes to save in my "net friends" file... guess I shoulda written the name on the box for future reference huh? It's raw and is a bugger to knap. Goin on a rock run soon and gonna try some heat on it.... The local ancients (Anasazis) used it quite a bit.

This weekend I got a beautiful Novaculite (I think) point from Trapper Rob. Thanks Rob it is a dandy.

Also received a dacite blade along with a couple pieces of dacite and mahogany from Sparrow. Thanks Frank, I will have fun working those spalls.

that is a neat display idea. i may have to do that for some of my own one day.

i do have another display idea i'd like to replicate, but i need to get better at knapping before i can pull it off.
