Should be intereresting Jamie.

You would never find a young HHB that small with no branches. At that stage of growth they have branches sticking out all over the place. Looks more like Ash to me.

hey fellas they are definetly excited. it is hop hornbeam . that section of woods is loaded with trees that size most are like marc just said. twisted and loaded with small branches. this one had great grain with only a couple of pins in it. however this piece was the toughest piece ive ever had to split . was worse than elm but we did it and got 2 staves for the kids out of it. i'll keep you posted as we move along. peace
