Nutters do work well!

I was sneaking up our road with the dog last week when I heard this guy below me in the woods. The road has a drop-off of about 10 feet next to it where I can creep up and suprise them every now and then. Gave the dog a hand signal to sit and stay, and was able to get about 15 yards away and he jumped up on a tree and stopped, presenting a perfect full length shot. Hit him between the shoulder blades - you can see the patch of fur missing. Dog Immediately ran over, but didn't have a clue what to do as it flopped around, and ran back.(She's from a Charlottesville city pound, came to us very well trained but no woods smarts

) She did like it in the spaghetti sauce, though.

I have had better luck with nutters than any other blunt head for squirrels. I like to leave the pointed end of the shaft sticking out more but obviously yours worked well too. Nice shooting.

Thanks Pat - did have a bit of a point sticking out,but I smushed it stumping on the way back

Wow - they look like litter mates, Pappy - what is Sadie? I think mines a bull/greyhound mix - maybe some other hound in her as well. We cut a 'yote trail today walking on the mountain and she went nuts- started peein' everywhere

Postman she is a Mountain cur. Like a small hound,they use the for coon hunting and bob cat and such.Good little hunting dog and can hold there in a fight.Fast and tough little dog but really sweet to people.

I use her for tracking wounded deer.Great nose.

Here's a close up, Aero -
I smashed this tip, it was sharper, and broke the arrow on stumps. Just sharpen the shaft a bit, thread on a (3/8 inch?) hex nut,or similar chunko'metal, and let 'er rip- and redo it when it smashes or breaks.

Maybe add some glue or JBweld, thread wrap,ect. . Some JBweld on the sharp point ( or any 2 - tube metal epoxy stuff) makes it last longer, but ain't necessary

I normally add a drop of super glut to the nut when threading it then saturate the protruding tip with super glue. I have pics somewhere but can't locate them.
