Got a big weekend planned, we are having the first leg of the 23rd
annual White Tail Classic. It is a fun and very laid back shoot,18 deer targets and 2 turkey all and very good hunting range. It starts in the morning ,then at about 4pm all the members / family and friends start to gather for the TwinOaks Bash. It is the last big cook out and get together for the year . We have done this for almost 30 years and always have it a week or so before the opening of deer season. Great fellowship/food and some picking around the fire. Can't wait. I have been busy this week scouting and putting up some stands, almost ready I think.
The mass crop is awful this year so I have had to burn a lot of boot leather to find some good used spots.
I think I have come up with a few. :)The good news about the weak mass crop is the deer will have to move to eat so in the long run it may just help at least that is what I keep telling myself. I put up 2 stands yesterday and also found a big Blue bark oak, at least that is what I call them ,loaded with acorns and dropping the deer are already using it, also found some rubs in the same small area so I at least know there is a buck somewhere around.
of course those that know me know a doe will be just fine also.
I Plan on a stand there today.
