Cost of Knapping Lessons?

Whats a good price for knapping lessons with the teacher suppling all the materials?

Hey DLH, welcome aboard! That is a good, valid - you teaching or learning question :). If your learning - find some knappers close by ( this is a good place to find em) and most all will show ya for free. I checked out some of the classes years ago but never took em up on it. Not that their bad, I just had plenty of other things to do with my money ;).

find the next nearest knapp in by you
go to it and ask folks if they mind if you sit with them and learn from them
i have never had anyone say no yet  ;)

this way you learn and can save your money to buy material/tools to take home with you

then theres always you tube videos(that what got me going)

Sorry about that I'm learning. I want to make some heads to hunt with along with river cane arrows. I'm in Ky too I found someone in the same county that I live in. Their price seemed good but I like to look around before buying ya know?

Where abouts in KY?  There are plenty of good knappers in western, central, and eastern KY...

Central Ky. I have found a knapper and he sells supplies for knapping as well. I just don't have to money right now going to college and thought it wouldn't hurt to look around until later about spring of the year. Anyone near Bowling Green because thats where I'm at for most of my week.

There are some nappers most weekends at our club[TwinOaks] about an hour from there.
Like sailor siad come to the Classic,lots of folks that would be glad to help and usually some materal there to work with. Also Sawfiler[Shanon ] lives pretty close to there.Might ask him.He is on here a lot. :)

DLH:  A lot of the "tools" you will need are ones you can make or find.  Antlers, hammer stones, rubber hand pads, etc!  You live in an area rich in quality knappers and most of them will be willing to help you learn.  Also the net is full of online instruction.  If you are serious and make it to Twin Oaks they will help you.  If you make that effort, I can send you some tools, hand flakers, antler billits, hand pads, Ishi stick, etc.  Show up at the Classic on the weekend and meet some of the countries best knappers and they will get you started! Thanks everyone you are all so williing to help. What is the days and times for the Classic in Twin oaks? I am going to try and come down that weekend and I think there is one in Ky but its in the summer correct?

DLH, the CLASSIC  in tenessee is the very last weekend of april/very first weekend of may
that weekend overlaps both them months
i believe its from the time the sun comes up each day and lasts until you go to bed  ;D
not real sure on the times daily though,aint been to it yet
but i will be there this year
heck if you show up ill show ya what little i know   ;)
