Ya ever notice there ain't no nudists that are into knapping rocks?  (I dunno what that has to do with anything, just a random thought)

DLH, with this forum, there really is no reason to ever pay for good advice, except to repay it in kind or pass it along.

Ok thanks everyone I think I am going to get a begginers kit and head down to the classic at the end of April. Hope to meet some of y'all down there. I think I might try to practice some before I come down to. Can I find rock that I could practice on in creeks? I will prolly ask a lot of questions if I can't find them on the search bar first so please bear with me...

yup knap ins are good.
i still use youtube, paleoplanet flintknappin forum is good too
i think i would take leapingbear up on that offer( kinda wish i lived near him)
when i started i just called a flintknapper aka caveman. and he just showed me how. being a rock supplier i naturally bought stone from him
and actually never buy anywhere else. he is now a friend of mine and a darn nice guy.

You are one of the lucky ones who lives in flint country! Look in the fields and the creeks. look for chalky white balls in the fields from baseball size to football size.
Anywere east and north of you, your find flint, your also find some south and west to, but mostly east and north.
When you look for flint you have to smack it to make sure its solid, when the flint is exposed to the elements it will crack and you cant make arrowheads outa cracked rock! Good luck knapping!

I kinda have to have to choose between the two because of gas but if that wasn't a problem I would...
