THAT doesn't look like a hog!
« on: June 30, 2011, 12:40:41 am »
So I am out of town with the family for our biannual extended vacation and was granted leave to go hunting for the day. Was hoping to land a razorback and break the "almost" off my moniker. Well we beat the bushes high and low until the dogs gave in to the heat, but no hogs showed themselves. Then as I was walking back up the trail I saw this guy sitting in the shade. Unfortunately he busted me at about 80 yards and the chase was on. Long story short, I took my first Corsican Ram with a traditional bow. As you can see from the pic the bow wasn't primitive (the bow I was planning to use popped a splinter during some practice time prior to the hunt), which is why I am posting here instead of the "bows" section. Still I thought it might be something to show off. I'll let you all know how the sausages turn out when I pick them up tomorrow.

Thanks guys!

@Lee: There's a ranch that imports them from Texas (ala Ted Nugent's place); however, they run wild throughout the area without fences. It's only the water that keeps them in the area.

@Criveraville: Gonna do a European Skull mount with the head and do a fur-on Tanning with the hide. The Ram had a GREAT mane that I intend to use in the making of a quiver.

Sausages back from the butcher yesterday and BBQ'd a few up tonight. Interesting flavor, tastes very much like lamb. Looks like I am going to have to hit my brother up for some of his homemade spicy apricot chutney....it's killer on leg of lamb and I'm sure will be a winner on the Ram.

APH, now that's just plain mean...dang, roasted leg of "lamb" over a mesquite spit sounds pretty dang close to a bit of heaven.  I'd be chasing more of them if I were you!  Congrats again.

You and say it was the heat you thought it was a hog. It dos'nt matter it's a kill and its a bow. Looks like a hog to me.
