You did well Marc. I only wish I could have known in advance that the stave was going to go side ways when dried.I have a few staves from the same section your stave came from and they all did the same thing. I usually get a fair read on a log. I missed on this one.My staves arn,t real bad ,just enough bend to be aggravating.:)

Marc, could I ask how deep you drill the hole in your nocks? I'm worried about having too much dead weight at the end of my bow.

These go in about 1 1/2" into the nocks.

That´s beautifull bow Mark!!... 8)..REALLY IMPRESSIVE mate!!...
I´ve also a little log from "Juniperus Thurifera" that got last year, this species is really like the look and properties of "Juniperus Virginiana" but from Spain.. ;) ;D...
Hope to make mysef a warbow out of this log but perhaps not as heavy as yours Mark...
Oh!! Marlon, you´ll for sure have fun shooting in such a cool "monsters" that Mark is crafting for you!!..you are really luckly mate!!... ;)..

Thanks guys.

ERC heartwood is brittle but the sapwood is not and this bows back is sapwood. It doesn't have the elasticity of Yew or the compression strength but it makes a good bow.

You must be really impressed Josh to be repeating yourself :)

That's the nicest looking piece of ERC I have ever seen and it looks like a proper English bow from here...
