Looked at some web photos and some looked like they are..

Nah, most just have long patterned base flakes that match the rest of face flaking.

Man that coastal plains is some sweet stuff. I like the look of that guy.

I blanked this out with antler a week or two ago but that's as far as I got.

Bob, that is a nice Dalton, one to be proud of. I'm no authority on replications, but I am going for a little different look myself. If you review the Sloans that are posted on the internet, there is a lot of variety among them, and I'm not sure whether any one set of characteristics could be called "the Sloan Dalton". Since we are not before a panel of judges, I think we should give it a try as we see it or enjoy it and let that be good.

Somebody who knows more than I do about them might want to chime in with characteristics that are "typical", just for our curiosity and information. If everybody tries to replicate some of the specific Sloans, we may be a long time seeing anything here.

Replicating some of the points that have been found can be exceptionally difficult, but let's all give this a try.

Daltons usually start out fat and get skinny over time.  Flaking is usually neat and orderly in the beginning and then gets more random after each re-sharpening.  There are also serrated varieties.

For those that don't have an overstreet guide, here's what I consider the most sloany Sloan Dalton shape. Along with the blank I started for this but haven't finished.
