Where in Alberta? I get up to Edmonton some, and north of there.
Lakeland, Florida
If you have to pull the trigger, is it really archery?

Alberta, Canada's redneck capital so they say. We have all the greatest serviceberry and chokecherry you could ever want. The chokecherry is too knarly unless you like those 45 inch native style bows.

May as well throw in.

Doug from South Australia... the nations hardwood desert ;-)  Returning to bowmaking after some small success and many spectacular failures a decade or so ago...

Thanks Kevin!

Lots of European Ash matchsticks! A few light European Ash bows. I don't know if it's just Ash or my dry climate but damn those things break easier than I expected, lol.

About to embark on a boo-backed Spotted Gum pyramid-style flatbow. There will be photos of that :-)

And hunting... We'll see how that goes I guess. I have a feeling there's bunnies and maybe some venison in my future...

Just discovered this thread... I'm in Leduc County, just south of Edmonton, Alberta... would be cool to hear from other bow-builders in the area, feel free to drop me a message!

John
If this bow breaks, I'll build another. If it doesn't............. I'll still build another.

Hello, and welcome back to PA! Patrick
Once an Eagle Scout, always an Eagle Scout!

Missouri, where all the best wood is! Well maybe not the straightest!

Building a bow has been the most rewarding, peaceful, and frustrating things I have ever made with my own two hands!
