Really sad news from TwinOaks
« on: January 28, 2015, 05:15:46 am »
I lost a very good friend Yesterday, Art Behlke [Tokin Yank] I called him, :) him and I have spent a lot of time around the fire and in the kitchen together, he was 83 and been shooting a bow since the early 40's when he took a bus to Chicago to an Archery shop and put and old bear on layaway he would then ride the bus back each week to make a payment and shoot it. He retired here in the late 90's and found TwinOaks after being a member of a few other local clubs, he fit right in and I for 1 am really going to miss him. He was at the farm every Saturday barring trouble and would spend the day. His wife said he didn't have many friends
except for his Church and TwinOaks and she thought his best friends was  at TwinOaks. Any of you that have made the Classic will for sure know him. RIP Art.

Very sad news as he was a very nice man.  I had some long talks with him if you call setting around the fire while he listened to me talk about bow hunting in the old days!  Always had a little grin on his face making you think he knew something you didn't!   :'( :'( :'(  Twin Oaks and the rest of us "want a bes" will miss him!  Joe

Really sorry to hear that. I never got the opportunity to talk at any length with him but he seemed like a great person.

Well, Going to miss Art.
Spent quite a bit of time talking with him on one of my weekend trips to TwinOaks.
I find it hard to believe that he had few friends??

I had the opportunity to meet him and speak with him a few times, he always struck me as a very kind man.
My condolences to you Pappy and all at Twin Oaks who were close friends with him, I hope you can take comfort from the memories you have with Art.
Rest in peace Art.

Never had the pleasure of meeting him. But from the sound of things I would have loved to. Sorry for your loss Pappy. I'm sure he will be truly missed. Patrick

Good friends gone are truly missed.  But the memories/impacts left behind are priceless.
... alone in distant woods or fields, in unpretending sproutlands or pastures tracked by rabbits, even in a bleak and, to most, cheerless day .... .  I suppose that this value, in my case, is equivalent to what others get by churchgoing & prayer.  Hank Thoreau, 1857

Tough news pappy. Im sure the ol' boy is in a much better place now. I never got to meet him. But if you say he was a good man, then he was.
