Just throwing this out. Utah's archery hunt starts August 15th. Maybe we can get a new hunting bow. ;)

I have seen rawhide used as a sleeve, metal pipe, and I think pvc could maybe be used possibly.

Do you think a femur bone would work for a takedown? Though it would probably take some looking to find one the right size if if had the strength to hold up.

A friend of mine told me once that he uses the top rail of a chain link fence. The part where they couple together. He said he just oval shapes them in a vice. Says you can get them for free if you find someone taking one down. Patrick

To knot or not to knot? This is the question. Wether tis betterr a bow to include a hole and add character or by removing it, end all risk. Tis the question thats makes so frustrated a bowyer.

Joe, I have seen pictures of English carriage bows that were hinged at the center, and folded up (back-to-back) for transportation. If your two limbs butt perfectly against each other, and the handle area is stiff, then I would think the forces would transfer smoothly from one limb to the other, and your sleeve just adds stability. I could be wrong, though.  Seems to me, if I used a bone collar, I might think about wrapping that in rawhide, both for looks and for something to grip, as well as the added safety.

Sleek, if that bow is for me, I vote keep the knot.

Hard, hard, hard. One limb is just about there. I have it on the caul for a bit of reflex. Still have to steam some hooks on. I looked at a few different take down ideas. If I can find a big enough femur I'll give it a shot. I know pet stores sell cow leg bones for dogs. Here is a sneak peek.

Thanks Don. I am not sure how far I will take the two sister bows. I may finish them or my Victim might . But I am still working on the hhb bow also. So my guy could end up with three bows . Who knows :-)
