Well my guy won't be getting a maple knotty character bow--at least not this one!  In all honesty this was only going to be a backup.  Now on to plan A.  Plan B may be coming in the mail from Sidewinder.  Lots of options, and I am not going to Germany this summer like I had hoped so I have a whole 'nother month to work with.

Ouch. Hate to see carnage on here.

I am thinking about putting a bit of fossilized mammoth ivory on the tips for inlays for my guys bow. Just got to make sure I get a good solid piece. Also probably going to coat it in epoxy to help make sure it stays in one piece. Maybe buffalo horn then mammoth ivory that way the mammoth is just for looks. Hmmm.... I like that idea.

I am thinking Bone sleeve, Bone tip overlays, If the BL goes out. If it is the Ishi, it will sinew, 24/7, 365.

Well my fence post stave will have to be a kids bow. Too much bug damage for a big boy  bow. I have a few more but they will have to wait. Because I done some digging in my stash and found this gem! Patrick

This Osage is about the toughest stuff I've ever worked with the exception of the old fence post! It makes an excellent little bow! Patrick

No pictures yet but I will soon. I just lost my job so I have plenty of time to finish up some projects and start some new ones. Looks like some sweet bows starting out here guys, cant wait to see what yall got!!!

Got off work last night and finished reducing the Juniper stave. What a difference between going from Black Locust, Straight to Juniper. How does juniper take heat?

I have the stave picked and projects moving along but this trade bow has yet to make it to chasing a ring. Still have two molles for customers, Blaflair's second bow, and then bada-bing-bada-boom it's time to start this sweet piece of ~five year dead-standing locust 8)

I wuldnt heat it. It's realy elastic, well the piece I had was. I think heat would brittle it up

Well I've decided to post pictures of each stage of my build.

Tonight I got the rest of the sapwood off.  (holy crap) it's been a while since I've done this. I forgot how tough this stuff is. I have the back fairly roughly to one ring. I'm going to reduce the stave to a little more "bow"  shape. Then chase the next ring down.
I've found the bow in this can you! Hint, it's got character! Patrick
