Those are nice ... Love the snakey one.... I made one take down bow for a lady from Alaska two years ago for hauling on a plane reason she use it in church teachings all over the world ... I made it really light poundage like a little kids bow but it turned out great.

I love all of the takedowns being posted, one has been on my list for a while :)

Got a little more work done on my Osage. Used the localized steam bending at the handle to bring the tips in line, went a little past straight we'll see how much of it holds O:)

Today's goal is to finish working the back down to a single ring and layout the bow.  I found it more difficult to do at night on my workbench, so I waited until I could get some natural light.  Looks like today is a good one for scraping a bow.  Once I get it cleaned up, will post some pictures.

Man you guys are whipping them out. Everything I've seen looks promising. I realize a lot of you have busy schedules and the weekend is the only time you can really get to humpin. I'll bet we get to see lots of work the next couple days.

Weekends offer the best opportunity to post them up and ask for advice because so people are on board. Looking forward to seeing some more of your work.

Amen to that Fred.....

Damned Hammer you a busy man !!!!

I took some more pics regarding the steam.....had a rough our for a back-bow and it had about 2" of lateral misalignment so took the opportunity to show how I use the little block to fix that. The rough out is ironwood, 1-1/4 wide and 3/4 thick at time of steaming.

I lay the block down and measure it for the right distance up to the pencil marks I used to mark where the bend was.....5 min in the steam and wallah straight.....

Pictures of how it works and a before and after of the stick

Pretty slick rich!  I'll be posting some progress pics pretty quick.  Hopefully have a string on one by the end of next week.

Wow!!! I'm building myself a new jig. I've been using two trees out back that are real close together but that's the cat's pajamas  8)

That's a pretty slick jig, Half eye!  When I get to working on a stave, I'll have to keep something like that in mind.
