Maaaaaan I really I hope I get to go the Spring Ridge this year too! Still not sure if I can make it yet.

First point from the new stone I squeezed in this morning before work.

Good stuff, for sure.  I'm really wanting to go to the Flint Ridge event.  Haven't made it yet.  I hit the TN Classic annually so the spring event isn't on my radar, but perhaps the end of summer event I may hit this year.

You know anything about your dogs breed?  I've got a female that looks a lot like your dog.

I've only been to the Classic once a few years ago but it's a great event.

That's Grizz, she's a mystery mutt I rescued. She shows all kinds of breed traits so I have no clue what she is other than a real sweetheart. I had her with my at the Classic when she was still a puppy.

Here's another Cobden Dalton and some other Kaolin and Mill Creek bifaces I roughed out.

You might have to bring some of that rock to MoJam, and look me up!  The cold down there in the Lead Belt comes with the northeast wind off the river and the humidity!  You'll see spring a lot sooner than we will >:D!  When it's springtime in the Rockies, it's hell down in the Ozarks!  You do good work.  I will have my tools and some rock along, hope to take a lesson.  1 day, bows; 1 day, knapping; 1 day, forging, fit in some flight shooting, and socializing, maybe stop to eat or sleep - sounds like fun!

A freshly heated batch from another time I went down to collect. Most of what was heated was already bifaced but the chunks and large spalls is what I worked down today. Yes I heat all that plus sand at once and yes you can heat 600 degree rock in a average roaster. A really ugly low grade piece of Mill Creek made a great bunch of glassy bifaces despite looking awful when I picked it up. The big one was the core and all the rest were large spalls off it i waited till heating to biface. Also made a mustache Simpson from a piece of the Kaolin as per a customer request.

So do you knap for a living, or for spending money? Or do you have piles of points collecting around the shop? Paul

Thanks bjrogg!

paulc: I knap because I can't stop really haha. I sell a lot of points hafted as knives when I travel to events but I do have piles of points around my house to the tune of a few thousand haha.

Ok. Finally got a 'flute' recorded. It's a lame one but I'll take it. Turning on the camera can be the kiss of death for me at times.

Thanks bowmo I was starting to have to withdrawal symptoms from not getting my daily diary of a mad knapper fix. I really needed that. You really do fantastic stuff. Really give me something to strive for.
