That's certainly a looker pinecone, and your the master at the minimalist approach to snakeskins

Sometimes a little is all yah need:) sometimes I have a hard time covering up such beautiful pieces of wood.


Nice bow.  Heat-treating does help the wood

Oh trust me I am regular congregate to the church of heat-treating.
It was a new wood wanted to work it unaltered:)

Bryce, that is gorgeous!  Looks like hawthorn, alright!  Did that piece have spiral grain?  That's the main thing that prevents me from using it more.

Yup! Twisty grain. I just ran it through the bandsaw like I do vinemaple and yew. No problems.
