Overnight turkey Scout
« on: April 07, 2008, 10:03:54 pm »
scouted turkey sat. evening to sunday evening. saw turds walkin in. and sunday on the way out had 3 hens fly over nad my dad called one in to within 30 yards. but it was a 5 mile hike. TIRED. it was below freezing and clear, no gobbles though. we slept out in the open right on the ground no tents or foam pads or anything really modern except for my dads frame pack. i carried my few things in my wooden pack basket. :) we got some good sized mountains in northern PA, a mountain man, buckskinner from there calls them the high country in his articles in the town newspaper and they are big. still some snow in the "high country" too. well good luck to everyone else in turkey. reply to whatever you feel fit.  ;D

Fond memories for sure little brother.. I recall many trips into the wilderness with my dad and can still smell the campfire and feel the early morning cold from those long ago excursions..Thanks for sharing Hawk a/ho

Why not, I for one would welcome a article from a young man such as yourself. Never doubt your ability,
you never know what your capable of until you try. Take some high resulotion ::) pics while your out and write of your experiences
especially the quality time spent with your dad. Don't matter if you get a bird or not. Its all about the hunt and the memories.

The post said to reply to what I see fit, And I'm seeing fit to read me an article written by a young man in PA who dreams of being a mountain man. Who also wears buckskin clothing , hunts and traps ,who also enjoys primitive archery, That tells of great journeys into the high country carrying only a primitive pack basket and a few things needed to sustain him and his dad , camping as the old mountain men of yester years did, in the cold climates of the high country .Cooking over a small wood fire by the base of a tree. While in search of game . Makeing memories to be past down the generations with his hunting ,trapping buddy his father HT this ought to get you started  ;)
