Trade Bow From High-Desert
« on: November 25, 2019, 09:52:12 am »
Hey, Gang,
I wanted to post some pics of this excellent bow I received in the Trade from Eric (High-Desert).  It's a character vine maple bow with two kinks in it, symmetrical about the handle, making it a bit like a 5-curve in the middle.  It's 61" ntn, 1-1/2" wide at the fades, and draws 60# @ 26".  It shoots straight and hard, and I like it a lot!

Tricky one! Looks nice, Tom.

Like it a lot too !
is it backed? or are the wrappings just for color separation which looks very cool too! Really nice stain!
Congrats to both of you!
Cheers

It's not backed, just stained and wrapped for separation.  Makes for a great look!

I'm really glad you like it Stickhead. It was definitely challenging to tiller and I think it's tillered correctly, I continuously questioned the tiller. But in the end the draw felt even and smooth so I guess that's a good sign. Vine Maple is certainly the most challenging wood I've worked as far as character and wood structure.
