This is a hard maple bow Im working on. Ill admit selfbows are not my specialty but I have a good time making the few Ive made. The natural character in the wood throws me off a bit compared to working with flat stock. right now its at a low brace and pulling 35#s @17" Looks to me like both limbs need work in the mid to outer areas especially the right side. What do you think?

well im not an axpert my any means,however i would say mid to outer limb like ya said,keep going slow as always and remember lots of exercise
between scraping sessions.
keep us posted as ya go.

I think you are right on with the mid need some more bending,I really can't see much of the right one but from what I can see you are right.Slow and easy and exercise as you go.

Looking good Jesse, but as the rest said stay off the fades and get the mid to about 6" from the tip bending more.
Does the left limb have some twist? Make sure you look at the tiller from both sides especially if there is a little twist
in the limbs.

You're doing great. You've got the fades working first, which is correct, and now just get the mid & tips to come around, and you're there. Go easy, you're getting close. Like Torges says "stalking tiller..."

The left is bending a little more in the fades. I would take a little more off the right fade then work over the mid and outer limbs. Justin

Slightly off the topic: is that bow made from a board or a tree stave? I like maple. Looking very nice!

Just got home. Glad to see all the replies. Thanks for the advice. Yup Dana is right this is from a stave he gave me.
Im glad you are all in agreement. Gives me a little confidence

Dana it had some twist that I heated out but it might be creeping back a little. Your right about looking at both sides. it looks a little different when I flip it.
Ill post more when I get a chance to scrape some more off.

ok I did a little more work on it.
The first pic is with the top limb on the right. The second is the other side with the top on the left.
Right now its pulling 40# @ 20 it seems to me that either way I turn it the right side needs work.

A little help please?
