If the Wally  world you go too does not have it, ask which store within driving distance is a "hunting" store.  Selection of products can vary dramatically from store to store.  Also check local gun shops, I like the "trading post" or "barn" style gun stores for things like this, you know, the ones with wood floors and 40 yr old dust under the back shelves.  Never know what you'll find in those.

I  haven't tried  tru oil  but  I  would  imagine  you  would  have  to  make sure  and sand all  the outer  film  off the bamboo  for  it to  penetrate well,
   I think  I would  prefer deft  or some top coat personally, I  can see  no reason  to  actually  sand this  outer  layer off,  other  than sanding the  nodes down
