Yes he is so far this year, been hunting 4 times,a total of about 6 hours and killed 3 deer, that's the way it goes sometimes. :) I seen Joe  [WolfWatcher]on early this morning and email him to see how his hunt went, looks like life was pretty good where he was also.I will let him tell the story, but I got to say ,one fine looking animal. Nice job Joe. :) :) I hope he don't mind me posting this ,I am just so tickled for him.

Looks like a great weekend, as usual.  Some great pictures, I enjoyed seeing the pictures of the crappie, brings back some good memories.
Pappy, I'm curious, what do you use to crack the skull and remove the brain?  I haven't seen that part done before.  You just hit it with a hammer?  Those were some good pictures of you processing the doe.

LoI haven't seen that part done before.

I'd not seen it that way either until I watched him do it.  Good lesson learned.

I have always either used a  Sawsall....or my Bandsaw to cut the skull in half...a Hacksaw would work good also.

Pappy:  Just can't tell you how much your weekend pictures mean to me!!  Have been thinking about some things for the next Classic.  If I can get one of the fellows like last year to donate a bow, I am going to make an elephant hide plains quiver for the drawing.  The bows I have made are just not worthy of a drawing! That seemed to do well last time and will also try to make another hunting kit!  The crappie in the picture reminded me of the grayling we had cooked in the coals in the Yukon---Just hard to beat!  I sure don't want anyone to think I was able to harvest the moose with my Parker bow.  Bad weather, lost rut, and the second to the last day without having a chance to even stock a shooter bull so I left the bow in camp.  When the bull came out of the timber and came right at me, I almost cried that I did not have my bow!  Am going to eat him anyway and remember that Wyoming bull from years ago that I killed with all primitive gear!  I did skin that big rascal with my stone blade and another stone knife that Shannon gave me.  The rest of the cutting and butchering was done with a Chris Cade knife and I can tell you that is the best knife I ever had!  A/Ho Pokie

That's a nice one with anything, and I have eat Moose,it is some mighty fine eating, JohnT won that bow and quiver last year,he was shooting the bow Tim made Sat. I shot it also,it is a sweet bow for sure. Gary Davis still gets teared up when we talk about the hunting kit he won,I mean he absolutely loves it and is in a honored place in his home.Thanks. Can't wait bear, probably wasn't enough fish to feed you Jesse  ;) ;D ;D Parnell,I just use a hack saw and cut from the front of the ears down to the eyes and fold it open. Comes out in 2 pieces.Quick and easy. :)

Great moose Joe! I was fortunate enough to get to moose hunt in Maine several years ago and took one. Great eating!

Joe congrats on the moose fine eats and trophey.    Mark when Dawn went with me hunting one of the guts skull capped a small buck,  that was the part that almost made her loose it. LOL   I would have thought feild dressing would have got her.
