how to make a EDC..sorta.

Wolfsongforge:
Ok here goes.
Justin Duncan(amongst others) wanted to trade a knife for a bow. so here is one of his, a small EDC( every day carry)

It is made from 1/4 L6 steel on of the best low alloy steels there is! well I missed a few steps before I grabed my camera. the steps I missed was cutting the shape into the bar of steel, and roughing in the bevels on one side. I did catch the camera in time for the rest. so here goes.

Here is the side I have got the bevels set and ground to 360 grit.

here is the other side roughed out useing the wheel on my belt grinder.

Then once the starting bevels are set, I "walk" the grind up the blade a lil bit at a time.

Wolfsongforge:
Here is a shot of the bevel as I "walk" it a bit higher with each pass.

The here is the blade with the bevles almost matching the opposite side. As you can see from the other pictures the grind is alot higher than the initial roughing out, as well as being completly flat.
Oh by the way the knife will be flat ground. I might hollow grind later if asked.

Here she is with the grind  where i want it and sanded to 360

in two days I wil heat treat and and finish it. I could do that now, but some lil SoB's came up and kicked my forge over and broke the lining in it. so forge build along tomorrow! also if any of you atlatl guys would do me a favor I was goofing off in the shop and made this out of a old Files that i use for practice,I thought it might look good on the tip of a spear.REALLY light(was a small file)

Wolfsongforge:
here is the spear tip

also if any of you guys have a belt sander or grinder, these blets are the best I have ever bought! they NEVER WEAR OUT!
they are called trizact made by 3m, expensive but well worth it!

oh by the way, here is my grinder set up if anyone was interested.

Stoker:
Coming along good. Can't wait to see how it turns out.
The blade from the file be a great boot knife
Thanks Leroy

Wolfsongforge:
ok sorry it was so long between updates. I had a few other orders that had to forged or ground.
ok here are the knife plus afew other odds and ends.

this is after quenching the blades. sorry, i could not take pics of the process as it takes all my attention to do the quenching, as the varius blades neding different temps.

now it is time for tempering, I chose the varius steels that the knives are made of because they all temper at 350-375 degree's and i can get the rc i want.
the edc blade is L6 at this temp it has a rc of 58
the loveless hunter is 440c and will temper to a rc of 60
and the two points are L6 and will temper to 58
and the fillet is 15n20 and 1080 and will hit about 56-57 rc
here is my high tech tempering oven that i use and dont be surprised i know alot of well known knife makers that use the same one......
