Question....  How long do snake skins applied to a bow with tb3 need to cure or dry before you can finish with tru-oil?

i wait 24 hours before i start tru oiling after skins are applied with tb3

Finally, after 5 days of being sick, I finally couldn't take it any more and went out to the shop.  Finished chasing the growth ring and did the bulk of layout.  That near limb tip still needs some work.



I haven't decided how much to slim down around the knot.  Plan to go in a bit more than it is now.



I would have finished laying it out but I was seduced away by the flint...



Supposed to warm up a little tomorrow, should be able to wrap up the layout and start the heat bending.

Lookin good George.  That point is nice too.  What is it supposed to warm up to down there?  We are stuck in a cold wave.  Highs were in the 20's today I think.

Thanks.  It's too bad, I had a belly split underneath this one that was dead straight but it had too many wind checks to use.  The top of the stave is bent even more than this one.   The wood is nice and dry, should bend real well.  I prefer not to have to bend straight sideways but will have to do it twice on this one and take out twist on one side too.  It had such a perfect knot I couldn't pass it up.

It never got out of the 30s today, was 38 when I went out and 30 when I came in.  I spent an hour adding a 220 circuit so I could run my electric heater where I knapp.  Still got pretty chilly in the shop.  Tonight will likely be the coldest night of the year here at 23.  Have to run the pool pump to keep the pipes from freezing.   I doubt I've run the pump more than 10 nights all winter.  We've had a very warm winter.   Should get up to 45 tomorrow and it'll be in the 60s by Tuesday.

Tell me about it, I broke 3 points before I got that one.  Broke one point twice.  ::)  Too cold to knapp for me I guess.  Been under a quilt since I got back in the house, just about warmed up finally.  What a weather wimp I've become.

George, your shop would Love a Lincoln Stove... :)

Made the 4H Auction today and it was chilly in the auction barn.
Picked up some Rabbits and a Goat!
Fresh Meat, Rawhide, Bone and Sinew next week!

Also finished skinning a piece of Pacific Dogwood this evening, she just may be the one. :)
She's got some pretty interesting Knot clusters to add to her overall appeal.
I'll get a pic of her up tomorrow.

I got a couple floor tillered and need to decide which one to go with. I been in the middle of finishing some turkey calls and helping a buddy build a boo backed ipe. (Got the twist worked out Pat, Thanks for the advice on it)

 Been keeping an eye on the thread and watching my recipients post to help me figure out what I want to go with. I think I got a good plan on the direction I'm gonna go. it'll be a bit before I jump on it though.
