My First Osage Bow

This is my first post, although I have subscribed to Primitive Archer for years.

This is my second successful bow, the first one was a board bow.  This is a Osage Stave.  It is 66" NTN, 1 1/2" at the fades to mid limb, 3/4" at the nocks.  It draws 57# at 28 inches.

I want to thank Eddie Parker for helping me get past the knots in the upper limb, and for the cane to make a new set of arrows.

Not bad for a southpaw.....lol.  just kidding, love the bend on the full draw shot. you have a great bow there. now to take it hunting.

Looked it up on my phone and got the pics, nice work!  Those are some interesting imperfections, what are they wind checks?  Bark inclusions?  You did a nice job working those.

Tom, I don't know what caused the imperfections, I didn't find them until I removed the bark. When I cleaned them out, you could see through both of them. I'm sorry you had trouble getting the pictures. My son said he couldn't open them either. How do you post and have the pictures appear without having to go to the attachments.

Wow...those aren't knots, they look like windshake cracks in the limbs!!!  Excellent work turning out this bow.  I don't think those two character marks in the bow will ever cause a fatality.  Well done!

Nice job on an interesting piece of Osage. I just finished one with the same type of cracks in it although not that big. Do you have the "Yellow Fever" now?

I'll tell you again, Jim, that's a nice looking, fine shooting, smooth pulling bow. You know where I live now, you guys come on over anytime and hope to see you at the Long Hammock shoot Sunday if not, the TBOF Fall shoot.

P.S. I had the pictures saved on my laptop. ;)
