Is that the bow type that doubled as a ski pole hence the strange nock or am I thinking of the laminate bow that had spruce on the belly and birch on the back.
Old Scandinavian bows are very interesting.
Thats not the same bow. You are thinking about a laminate bow which belongs to the old native norwegians. "samene" The people with the "reindeers" and the wood in this bows were birch and pine.
That kind of bows were common in Norway, Sweden, Finland and Russia. "Kviljo" has made those bows.:-)
The "Haithabu" bow is from Denmark/northern Germany. It's datet to the 8. century.
