What Did You Do Today?

YosemiteBen:
Happy belated Pat! Hope you had a good day!
Yeah Papp, I prefer to fix what I can. Time allowing....
Very nice job Mr. Krewson!

WhistlingBadger:
Nice hike/field archery session out in the desert.  Covered probably 2-3 miles, only saw two other people, and only broke one arrow after many many shots in very rocky country (and hit more stuff than I missed).  Calling it a win.   ;D

Country like this isn't show-stopper stuff you can get out the car window, like the mountains or even the forests back east. It's more subtle. You have to get out and walk in it, smell the sagebrush and juniper, jump a cottontail off its bed, watch a muley feed up a distant hillside, get a quick glimpse of a lizard, watch your step through a prickly pear patch, jump halfway out of your skin when you almost step on a snake, spot a beautiful flower growing in a completely unexpected place, thread your way through a bunch of big rock outcrops that look like they are hiding mysteries (and occasionally are)... I always feel better after some time in the desert.

Pappy:
Beautiful country WB, will get to see some of that kind soon.  :)

Yeah, Pappy! Maybe this is your year to perforate a big bull!  I'm going to be looking for a muley this fall...or maybe just taking the year off from big game hunting.  We're still eating on my elk from last fall, and with all the travel this summer it wouldn't be bad to just kind of get my feet under me again.  Look me up if you ever get up this way.

Eric Krewson:
I juiced some muscadines to freeze for future jam when my stock get low. My antique jelly strainer juiced 2 gallons in less than 10 minutes. I got 13 cups of juice out of 2 gallons of cooked muscadines.

My neighbor has a pear tree that he lets me pick from, I have never made pear perserves but from looking at the You Tube videos it looks pretty basic so I gave it a try.

Everything went well, I made a little jelly out of the leftover syurp after I filled the pint jars. I added honey and lemon juice, this made the best jelly I ever tasted.
