They have been around a long time.  They have made a lot of them.  There is a reason for that.

I have always used 125 grain broadheads, but I think it makes more sense to go to a stiffer spine and go up to a heavier broadhead to counteract the spine.  This will make the arrow more "weight forward" and improve penetration when a less than optimal shot happens.  Not that I am condoning taking a risky shot because you have a better arrow combination.  Give yourself the edge with weight forward and wait for the best shot, pass on the rest.  Be ethical.

Good advice Jdub.  They have a lot to choose from. The owner was at the Classic. I like to talk w/ him about it if I was going to buy them. Might depend on what you plan to hunt...Whitetail....Bear? just my thoughts, dp

Great heads, very durable, very affordable. As far as weight is concerned. The difference between a 125 and a 145 grain isn't noticeable. But, if you go from 125 to 160 grain, you'll start to feel and hear a difference in the bow and arrows spine. They will kill anything you hit the lungs on. Deer, bear or elk.

Derik, that dude is cool. I spent time with him last year down there.

I've never had a problem with penetration on hogs with 125-145.

If you have to pull the trigger, is it really archery?

But what is the spine weight of the truck bumper you welded them onto???

No kidding!  Will H gave me a tour of the farm, and we happened upon a deer.  It whipped it's head up when it heard us walking in the dry leaves, took one look at Will, stiffened up, and fell over!!  Honest! ::)  They don't even try to run anymore. ;) ;)

That's funny Greg! Seriously though them Ace's do a number on em. I personally shoot the larger super express variety. It's 200gr and 1 1/2" wide. I've killed 8 or 9 with em in the last few years. I'm always impressed with the blood trails. Easy to sharpen and stay sharp for a long time. Here's some inspiration for ya :) all taken with aces sent from selfbows.
