All I can say fellas is this.....I've broke 'em before, I'm still breakin 'em, and I will probably break some more before I'm all done >:D >:D

Turtle, looks like you have a damned fine bend going there even with the character, that's an even bend going on sir.

MW, believe it or not Ironwood will tolerate that usually....untill some idiot wants a lot of weight on a 1" wide whitewood bow.....honestly I dont believe that would of happened if the weight was in the 50-60# range.
Maybe I should change my name to "operator error" 8)

Rich, toss a bamboo backing on it. That will take care of it mighty fine. I done that before on a hickory bow.

Good to know Rich - I have some ironwood drying that I cut last year.  I have heard lots of good thing about it and looking forward to working with it.
Enjoy the hunt!  Mitch

Rich .... only can wish my failure rate was as low as yours!
... alone in distant woods or fields, in unpretending sproutlands or pastures tracked by rabbits, even in a bleak and, to most, cheerless day .... .  I suppose that this value, in my case, is equivalent to what others get by churchgoing & prayer.  Hank Thoreau, 1857

Thanks for the sentiments fellas......but really not necessary. I dont like to break one for sure....but I aint gonna pour gas on my head and light it >:D  Just went and cut out another blank.

Turtle: will do brother....by the way, I never could pull that much weight 8) Anything over 60# and you all get the two hand pics, eh?

Knoll, your computer aint got enough memory if I sent pics of every stick I've ever broke, used to measure them by the garbage can full !!!

MW....I was tellin the truth bud, I dont think anything about cutting right through a knot (on the edge) this was just a case utter foolishness.

ajooter, absolutely sir....all of us like the abuse ::)

Mr. Andersson....now that was funny right there

Thanks for kind words guys. With all the dips and bumps this has I have been paying extra attention to my thickness taper. Even used my calipers for the first time in a couple years.

Turtle that is niiiiice! Both ends look perfect in the brace, even with all the snakeys.

Otter's doing ok. He's just letting his staves loose a little moisture. I'll give him another week then I'll kick him Into gear.  >:D
