I can't understand why I would have a crysal on this sinew backed bow but it sure looks like one. I was final sanding out tool marks and this one wouldn't go away and then I saw it was not flat like a file or scraper, but more of an arc  :'( :'(  Straight over from my ugly big toe and center of other pic. Sorry about the poor quality.
Not in a higher stress area than any other so not sure what to think yet. Maybe in denial.

Two things Doobs. I cant see any compression fractures. And, is that the RD you posted just a bit ago? If so, the tiller looks good.

Is that in a reflexed area?  Could it be a tear from heat bending?

+1, although not cosmetically pretty they usually don't cause and problems.
Can you feel it with your fingernail?

Pearlie, yes it's that bow and I'm glad you like the tiller. I always have doubts on my tillering abilities.

Nope, can't feel it with finger. Gotta tell on myself. I put a coat of tru oil over it last night and then I started staring at it and the denial went away and I was like "Oh *&%0" I can't leave that can I?"

Clint, I think you may have nailed it bud. Probably a very small tear but sure could be related to a clamp also.

You all think it's ok?

Dubois, your tiller looks very good with an even bend.  I don't see anything that would cause a compression fracture.  Did you have a serious hinge early in the tillering process?  If not I'd say its a C-clamp dent or a reflex tear.

No serious hinges. Took it easy and slow  ;)
Ok then. Gonna continue finishing her off and shoot a little more too before shipping.
Thanks all.

Next time put your bow up against a wall on on a bench to take a close up picture like that.  Your camera wants to focus on the background instead of the bow.  Happens to me all the time.  It's very aggravating.
