When you discover that an arrow shoots better cock in do you just shoot it like that or do you reverse the fletching :-[ :-[

Just flip the arrow over. If it shoots good that way, isn't an arrow shooting good what you were after to start with?

If you don't have a Spline Checker this is a common problem.I'm sure not many NDN's had a way of checking except by Trial and Error.

OK I'll try again. I have an arrow that shoots wonky. If I shoot it cock feather toward the bow it flies better. Do I put a tag on it that says."Shoot this one backwards," or do I reverse the fletching?

I'd just put a mark on the arrow somehow. Reversing all of the other stuff would be a pain.

I'm just wondering if reversing the fletching is just going to bring the problem back. I don't mind doing the work, it's all fun.

The fletching might not have anything to do with that arrow flying better.  It could have a weak and stiff side to it that is causing it to shoot better.  I'd leave it how it is and shoot it cock feather in.  Notch the feather or mark it like Mullet said so you know that one goes in.
I started out with nothin' and I still got most of it left

I'd refletch the shaft. But then I'm elderly and retired. I wouldn't remember to check any special markings and have plenty of time to refletch.   ::)

if you re-fletch it, you will have your answer, as to weather it should be done or not. give it a try I say. not like you're re-fletching a dozen. just a thought. then you can give us your feed back. Ed

I'd leave it as it is and shoot it with the cock feather in. It is the stiff side in that allows the arrow to fly well.
I add an index to my arrows with a drop of TB glue. Add the small drop and when it skins over turn the arrow so the drop hangs down and let it dry like that. It will give you a pronounced indicator like an index on a plastic nock. I've seen others use a small nail or piece of antler, bone or hardwood for this also.

I've used three of the same for ever. Before primitive I shoot 3 white with recure's and long bows.

If it shoots better it you turn it you have 2 choses. Change for feathers or just shoot it like it is.

Lately I've been shooting mine bare shaft both ways and then fletching the way they shoot best.
