Sturgeon Backed Yew Bow 47#@26"
« on: July 11, 2019, 09:50:08 am »
It was a pleasure building this bow. The yew stave was nearly flawless and felt like it wanted to be a bow. I love working with sturgeon skins as well. It makes such an incredible looking backing. The bow is 66" long and pulls 47#@26". The handle is tanned beaver tail and the tip overlays are buffalo horn.

You're absolutely right, that sturgeon skin makes that bow look stunning!  Great job!

Thanks! It was one of yours. It was the narrower stave. Perfect for this bow.

Another beauty, Weylin.
Does the sturgeon skin add any performance or just very good protection?...and beauty, of course.

Thanks, Pat. Functionally Id' say it pretty much the same as rawhide, probably even tougher.

Great bow as usual.  I as well pride myself in taking good photos, albeit cheap point and shoot camera.  Some of your pics are 3.18MB  I normally scale my pics down to about 250KB.
