A wrap to hold the point tight and true then an inch or more wrap behind the point.

Woody roberts:
I slot my shaft with a 4-1/2” side grinder with a metal cut off wheel. Almost the same thickness as my saw blade points. Give everything a good coat of JB weld and wrap with artificial sinew letting the JB weld squish out between each layer. These hold up very well.
