So, just as with Paleoplanet, I have been lurking here for a while so I figured that I would finally stick my nose in. I started to pick up bowmaking six or seven years ago, but shortly after, a job change and relocation put things on hold until a couple of months ago when I felt inspired to do something with a white ash stave in my closet. Ever since, I have been digging through forums and the Bowyer's Bibles for hints, tips, and ideas. In that light, just as with the Paleo guys, I want to say thanks for being so open about bow making. It has made learning a great experience!
And, finally, since no introduction is complete without pics, here are some pictures of my recently completed red oak bow. It is 71" ntn and 58# @ 30". The handle and limb tips are "butcher block" style end grain cuts of maple and walnut (from one of my dad's old projects).
