Stuck -  are we looking at the side of the stave in the pics?  I am confused? ???  If it is the side, what are the pencil markings?

Mitch

I think he's cut through the growth rings around the knots(not that there's anything wrong with that) and then pencilled the growth rings. That's why they're all over the place

Here is plan d.  This is black locust again.  I think it is close to 60 pounds draw but I haven't measured it yet.

The wraps are to cover up a tear in the snake skin.  It was a snake that had been run over a few times so there was some damage.  I did the best I could to line everything up on the bow but everything just looks a little off to me.

Thanks DC.   Then I agree - cut it off.
Enjoy the hunt!  Mitch

No other pictures of this bow yet.  I have been slacking on taking pictures. I will see if I can get a full draw picture taken this weekend.

Swamp - I dig it. Looks sharp for road kill.

Stuck- Do a Bobbit, cut off the knotty bits.

Gut- Salt the skins and try to make some glue. I've been saving my perch. I bet crappie would work fine. That has to be one of the best tricks ever played, calling something that tastes so good "crappie".

I shot my plan b bow last night. It feels light to me, but I have got the scale out yet. It's gotta be close though. I also gave the stubborn rock elm another heat correction. I'll shoot it tonight and see if it takes this time.

Plan B and Rich, Thanks....

The dogwood moved great with steam and a small box trick!  I somehow had missed that post.  So thanks Plan B for pointing it out and thanks Rich for originally posting it.  It straightened right up with just a little working.  Now let it sit for a while.  This trick works so great, it is definitely going in my memory banks.

Stuck,
Keep in mind that the last 6" on that ELB probably wont bend, I'm a fan of stiff tips though, JMHO...I could post you some examples if you would like...

                                                                                                                                                     Don

Loope...all Rich's doin'!

Shot in my trade bow for the last 3 days. About 300 arrows total. I did add a handle wrap after all and floppy rest. Then added the final few planned details I can't show or it will give the recipient away. Bow has performed flawlessly. I can't see set after unstringing. Profile is as tillered. Draw weight has stayed the same over the whole time. Lots of initial string tension. Just about ready to send to a good home.
I love it when a plan B comes together....
