Bald eagle

BowEd:
Cool....During the winter here any big cottonwoods along a paved road with a road killed deer on the shoulder will have 7 or 8 of these bald eagles waiting for traffic to subside to pick at the deer.
I should of took pictures of that but my hurry to get errands done did'nt allow it.
A friend of mine that runs a body shop out in the country is an advid deer hunter. His boys and himself throw the guts and bones from their deer out in the middle of the stubble field a few blocks from their shop.I counted close to 25 eagles of varying age there one time.
Did that once here too and within a day 3 or 4 eagles were there.
There is a large lake...Lake Rathbun around 15 miles from me.

Probably about 15 years ago now. I trapped raccoon and muskrats.

I put the carcasses out in my field. When the crows find them everything finds them.

One morning I could see something on the carcasses but couldn’t tell what it was. When I got closer I found a bald eagle on the carcass. A large hawk about 10 yards away and a dozen seagulls about 30 yards away.

Was no question about the pecking order

BowEd:
Yep the crows sit on the outskirts till the eagles a are done.

BowEd:
We'd like to locate a red tail nest some time here too.

PaulN/KS:
I was just out front cleaning up a piece of equipment and the resident/local eagle did a low pass overhead.  :)
