Their role here is more as a carrion type bird much like the turkey vulture.

I have seen a few around my place,we are just a few miles as a crow flies to the Cumberland river, but still pretty rare , see them quite often down around KY. lake and lake Barkley.  :)

We have a pretty good population of them around here.

I have a big dead cottonwood tree at the end of my ravine that seems to be their favorite tree stand. There’s almost always at least one and often two in that tree.

They let me go right under the tree with my tractor. If I’m in my pickup I can’t get within 250 yards.

They definitely know my tractor

I saw the first eagles here just last year but it was a male, female and juvenile so that's a good sign. I saw an osprey this morning.
